On Friday, 28 August 2026, the EMLex team at Université de Lorraine in Nancy welcomed the EMLex students for the new semester.
The welcome session brought together four first-semester EMLex students and two third-semester students, along with Maja Stange, Prof. Hélène Vinckel-Roisin and Prof. Yvon Keronmnes.
Classes officially begin this week, marking the start of another exciting semester in Nancy.
We wish the new students a bright start to life in Nancy, despite the rather rainy weather!
Researchers María José Domínguez Vázquez and Iván Arias Arias presented the ESMAS-ES+ project at the EUniWell workshop“Connecting the Dots: Multilingualism across EUniWell”, held at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Santiago de Compostela. Their contribution explored the role of multilingual approaches in the development of lexical resources and fostered collaboration across the EUniWell alliance.

Researchers from eight universities gathered at the University of Vigo’s Pontevedra campus to advance the Esmas-Es+ project, an initiative aimed at developing an automatic multilingual semantic tagging tool that helps computer systems understand the meaning of words and expressions more accurately. The project combines linguistics, artificial intelligence, and language technologies to create a prototype capable of automatically assigning semantic labels to texts.

Die Alain-Rey-Kohorte des zweisprachigen (Englisch und Deutsch) Erasmus-Mundus-Masterstudiengangs EMLex verbringt derzeit das Sommersemester ihres ersten Masterstudienjahres an der Université de Lorraine in Nancy. Das Sommersemester neigt sich dem Ende zu, und die abschließende kulturelle Veranstaltung führte sie am 18. Juni 2026 in die französische Hauptstadt!
Diese Reise war für uns alle eine fantastische und äußerst bereichernde Erfahrung. Am Vormittag hatten wir die einmalige Gelegenheit, einen Blick hinter die Kulissen des Verlags Le Robert zu werfen – ein faszinierender Besuch, der perfekt zu einem Lexikografie-Studium passt. Ein großes Dankeschön geht an Géraldine Moinard, die Chefredakteurin bei Le Robert, für ihren herzlichen Empfang und an Benjamin Rouxel für seinen äußerst interessanten Vortrag „Inside Le Robert: Wie neue Wörter in unsere Wörterbücher gelangen“.
Der Nachmittag war ebenso inspirierend, mit einer Führung durch das UNESCO-Hauptquartier. Vielen Dank an Xianhong Hu und David Castillo Parra für ihre Unterstützung bei der Organisation dieser Veranstaltung. Sie schlossen sich uns anschließend auch für ein Foto vor dem UNESCO-Hauptquartier an, zusammen mit Guilherme Canela, dem Leiter der Abteilung für digitale Inklusion, Politik und digitale Transformation am UNESCO-Hauptsitz in Paris.
Diese gemeinsamen Erlebnisse in Paris machen diesen Tag für uns alle unvergesslich!

As part of the A4 module, EMLex students took part in a cooperative working session focused on the development of questions for a questionnaire survey.
The activity brought together students to collaboratively draft, discuss, and refine survey questions, combining individual contributions with group feedback. This hands-on approach allowed participants to engage directly with the methodological challenges of questionnaire design, including question clarity, neutrality, and structure.
At the congress XI International Congress of Hispanic Lexicography: 'Three Centuries of the Diccionario de Autoridades', held at the University of Cádiz on June 3, 4 and 5, 2026, the coordination, teachers, and alumni had the opportunity to share information about the programm and to strengthen ties with colleagues from various Spanish and Latin American universities.
