I can still see that day as if it were a scene from a film— the moment I arrived in Braga, the golden light of late afternoon spilling across the cobblestone streets. My suitcase rattled behind me, still heavy with the weight of Erlangen and the final exam I had just left behind. I didn’t know what this new semester would hold; the future felt like an unopened book. All I knew was that our entire cohort would be together for the months ahead, and the thought made my heart pound with equal parts excitement and fear. Would I be able to keep up? Would I find my place here?
We are excited to announce new internship opportunities for EMLex students at the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities (ACDH) in Vienna.
Applications for the ACDH internship placement for July 2026 will be open from mid‑March to early May 2026.
This program offers students the chance to gain hands‑on experience in a leading international research environment, engaging directly with innovative projects in digital humanities and lexicography.
The EMILex Colloquium on Lexicography, Didactics and Language Technologies will take place on 25 March 2026 at the Faculty of Philosophy and Education of PUCV in Viña del Mar, Chile. This event will address the current developments in dictionary research, teaching methodologies, and emerging language technologies. All are welcome to join this academic exchange promoted within the EMLex framework.
The EMLex Summer Term 2026 at the Université de Lorraine will commence on 2 March with an official Welcome Day hosted by the Research Unit ATILF in Nancy. The opening session will feature addresses from university representatives, followed by a keynote lecture delivered by experts from UNESCO on multilingualism and digital inclusion. Throughout the morning, participants will attend scholarly presentations on lexicography, including insights into the Dictionnaire Étymologique Roman and an introduction to the work of Alain Rey and the Dictionnaires Le Robert.

Im Rahmen des European Masters in Lexicography (EMLex) fand der Dictionary Day am 12.12.2025 an der Université de Lorraine in Nancy statt. Eingeladen worden waren Dr. Kathrin Kunkel-Razum und Prof. Dr. Elmar Schafroth, die jeweils einen Vortrag zur Genderepräsentation im monolingualen Wörterbuch Duden und den 'schematic Idioms' an der Schnittstelle zwischen Lexikon und Grammatik gehalten haben.
We are delighted to share that last month, Chenlu Yu, an EMLex alumna, successfully defended her PhD thesis with the distinction: “Excellent.”
Her thesis, titled “A Design for an Online Bilingual Specialized Dictionary in the Field of Manufacturing Technology in the Automotive Industry,” was co-supervised by Janet de Cesaris and Mercè Lorente at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona.
